It Sucks Just as Bad!

Well I'm writing to you minutes before I take off and let me tell you, saying "see you later" sucks just as bad as "goodbye"!  I was crying off an on for the last hour as I departed for the airport.  Change is exciting, but it is incredibly scary all at the same time.  God did not give me the spirit of FEAR or WORRY, so I know that I'll be fine.

Kentucky here I come...see you later California!

Hidden Cupcakes!

Today I began the last week of my job the way I started it, wine tasting with my cohort members!  We took a little drive to a town called Murphy's near Ripon, CA for the wine.  Little did we know, today began the Frog Jumping Festival...this place had frogs everywhere (fake ones).  Seeing that I'm not into wine, I was going to spend time with some friends while getting out of Stockton's choke-hold. 

While in Murphy, we stopped at this cupcake shop called Lila & Sage.  I got 4 mini cupcakes - Red Velvet, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter Brownie, and Banana Cream with Cream Cheese.  They were really good and only cost a total of $6.  When the rest of my male friends joined the ladies, the bakers ended up giving them free cupcakes so they weren't watch us ladies enjoying our sweets.  If you ever have time to travel up the windy freeway to get to this place, do it!

The Best Breakfast of My Life!

So today I treated my dad to this great breakfast in Hillcrest, a cute little area of San Diego, called Hash House A Go Go!  They give you giant portions all made from fresh ingredients.  I heard about this place as I was flipping through channels and caught the tail-end of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network.  It looked so good and when they mentioned that the original is in San Diego (pictured to the right), I made sure that I kept it in mind during my trip home for Spring Break.

My dad and I tried going yesterday, but of course there was the St. Patrick's Day parade that prohibited any plans from following through.  So it was a wasted trip we went to Chiba's in Mission Valley for sushi.  But we went back for brunch and let me tell you...the 45 minute wait was well worth it.  The service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food that they give you!

Here's what we ate:

House smoked salmon w/ fresh asparagus, sundried tomatoes, chili cream and two basted eggs

House roasted chicken w/ mushroom, sliced market yellow tomato all crowned w/ basil pesto cream and two basted eggs

I had a Kiwi Watermelon Lemonade to wash it all down...so yummy!

What's the Weather?

So after a nice relaxing break from school and my assistantship, it was back to Stockton. I was doing my best to get back in time for me to get a few errands done before the campus closed for the day. Well it took me 12 hours to get back because of the interesting Southern California climate. I started at 3:45 am on the I-5, but was stopped about 3.5 hours into the drive due to the freeway being snowed out. Unfortunately I had no idea that it was snowed out so I waited in the over crowed McDonald's parking lot for about an hour and a half waiting for the freeway to reopen. Well I got tired of waiting and decided to take the 101 freeway (completely out of the way) to 41 so I could get back on I-5 around Fresno. The weather did a complete 180 on me, l0l. I went from a snowy winter chill to a sunny California day with clear skies and waves crashing against the cliffs. Let's just say it tripped me out just a little bit!

Back in Cali

So I'm back home in sunny San Diego. I had such a wonderful time in New York and already I can't wait to go back. My line sister is trying to get us to go Howard's Homecoming in October and we do, I might have to make a day trip out to Stony Brook. I made such great friendships while I was out there and I worked really hard to produce great work. I think it worked because, as I was saying my good-bye's, everyone was asking me if I was going to apply, and if I did they would do their best to look out for me. I also need to go back because I didn't have a chance to go back to the city before I left so I need to get a fix before I graduate. We will see...
